The Hinksey Studio has been established by a small collective of Oxfordshire artists and photographers. We aim to provide unique, archival quality Gicleé prints at a price range within reach of everyone. All the images in our catalogue are exclusive limited editions, hand finished to the highest level. Each print comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist, along with the limited edition number.
Increasingly, photography is too often treated as a purely digital format, being displayed on monitors and not on printed media. This is our contribution to keeping print photography alive!
Gicleé Printing
Gicleé printing is quite unlike any other form of art reproduction. The process uses nine separate inks (instead of the traditional four used by a Lithographic press) and is renowned for being extremely colour fast - an estimated 100 years without fading.
Framing and Mounting
All our prints are on high quality Hahnemuhle Digital Fine Art media, with optional 3mmFoamex mounts. Everything is hand finished and carefully inspected before being packaged by hand.
We can offer framing - please contact us to discuss options! As a framed print adds a substantial weight to the postage and packaging cost, we would have to give you a custom quote on your order. Alternatively, our mounted prints are a uniform finished size of 40x50cm, which is a very common frame size.
The printed size of a typical print will be 29.7cm at the longest dimension. Due to the aspect ratio of some of the images, occasionally this may differ. We leave a 3 - 3.5 cm border for signatures, which then leaves about 17.5cm for the mounted border, resulting in the total 40x50cm.
Unmounted images come with more than enough border if you wish to experiment with different dimensions and mounting techniques.
